The most outstanding feature of this bottle is its advanced anti-colic system that gives the baby more milk and less air. The venting system has 3 unique pieces that remove air from the milk to prevent reflux, discomfort, and colic.

The nipple of this bottle has a breast-like shape and feel because it is made from soft silicone material. The nipple also has a slow flow and flexes like the natural breast, to make its anti-colic property more potent.

According to 84% of mums that tested the Tommee Tippee anti-colic bottle, this product reduced colic symptoms in their babies.

Another outstanding thing about the advanced anti-colic bottle from Tommee Tippee is that it has heat-sensing technology.

This heat-sensing technology comes in form of a heat-sensing strip that is embedded in the venting tube. This trip turns pink when your baby’s food is too hot, above 98 degrees.

Like other Tommee Tippee bottles, the advanced anti-colic bottle is made from BPA-free plastic and they’re all easy to clean. You can clean them in a dishwasher, and sterilize them in a steam sterilizer, or microwave.

Another reason this baby bottle is easy to clean is that it has a wide neck. This wide neck also mimics the natural areola which the baby’s mouth rests on when feeding on the mother’s breast.

This bottle has measurement markers that do not wash off. You can get this bottle in many sizes and decorations.

The downside we found about this bottle is that you cannot use it with other nipples or the closer-to-nature nipples from Tommee Tippee. It is only compatible with the Advanced anti-colic nipple from the same brand.

Heather Welch loves this bottle

Heather Welch is the Resource Manager at Ukulele Tabs. She currently has an infant and a toddler and has used Tommee Tippee products for both. She said:

“I didn’t start my first child on Tommee Tippee but instead went for a different brand. After noticing a lot of reflux, I decided to do a bit of research and that’s how I discovered the Tommee Tippee range.

While I’ve tried a few different bottles from the brand, my favorite is definitely the Advanced Anti-Colic bottle. They come in 150ml and 260ml sizes, so I can use them as my baby grows. They really work for babies that require that “anti-colic touch” in their feeding style.”

 Pros

  • The heat sensing strip makes it easy for you to test the baby’s food temperature before feeding.
  • It is suitable for newborn feeding
  • The advanced anti-colic system truly reduces or prevents colic in babies.
  • The compact design of this bottle makes it easy to hold and is comfortable for a baby’s mouth.
  • The bottles are BPA-free and can withstand heat in a steam sterilizer or microwave
  • You can clean them in the dishwasher
  • The nipples are shaped to look like the breast, which makes them suitable for breastfed babies
  •  You can feed the baby in a natural position because of the compact design of this bottle

 Cons

  • Unlike other Tommee Tippee bottles, this one has many parts and it can take a while to assemble them.
  • Some of these bottles don’t have the required slit there should be on the cap of the bottle. This makes some moms cut the slits by themselves or return the product to get another

Who is Tommy tippee advanced anti-colic bottle for?

Babies who are prone to having reflexes, barbs, or colic when feeding will benefit greatly from this bottle. It avoids gas and fussiness, and many parents have testified to its functionality.

It is also a great bottle for breastfed babies because the nipple of this bottle mimics mothers’ natural breasts.

Tommee tippee Closer To Nature bottles

Tommy tippee Closer To Nature bottles is designed to mimic breastfeeding. This makes it a great choice for parents who would like to combine breast and bottle feeding, I don’t want their kids to suffer transitioning between both.

These bottles do not cost much and have an anti-colic valve which allows your baby to take more milk instead of air. The nipples are also soft and are made from soft silicone to mimic the natural breast.

This bottle has a wide neck and uses a wide-neck nipple which mimics the areola of The breast. because of this command babies can latch on easily, and feel like they are breastfeeding. This wide neck nipple behaves like the natural nipples and flexes, stretches, and elongates well as your baby is sucking

The wide neck of this bottle also makes it easy to clean. You can hand wash if you want to use a washing machine.

Storing is also easy because of the shape of this bottle. Compared to other 9-ounce bottles from other brands, this bottle is shorter and won’t consume much of your cabinet space.

It is free from BPA, PVC, and phthalate and the measurements won’t fade after washing.

Even their anti-colic valve feels solid and helps nipples stand upright while your baby is feeding. It also functions well and prevents air from getting into the baby’s tummy to cause fuzziness or spit-ups.

This bottle has a slow-flow nipple which makes it suitable for newborns. However, some parents complain of having fast flow despite using a slow-flow nipple.

Beth McCallum shared her view on this bottle:

Beth McCallum is a remote writer for the cleaning website, Oh So Spotless. But she’s also a first-time mum who is a big fan of Tommee Tippee. She said:

“My favorite Tommee Tippee bottle is the Closer to Nature Baby Bottle. I mostly breastfed my son, but when I was out, at work, or catching up on sleep, he would take a bottle. This was the first bottle we tried, and he had no issue latching on, nor did he ever have nipple confusion.

The bottle is shaped like a breast, encouraging babies to latch on easily. The nipple is flexible, so the baby can get comfortable and drink without stress.

One of the things I dislike about it is that it discolors easily. Ours have a bit of a yellow tinge even after going through the dishwasher and a sterilizer. This is normal but a little unsightly.

Another thing I don’t like about it is that my son has found it difficult to hold by himself. If they had an option with a handle, that would be brilliant.

Overall, I would recommend this bottle to everybody, especially combi-feeding parents. I also buy these bottles as a gift to any of my expecting friends and family.”

Pros

  • These bottles are affordable
  • The animal has soft silicone material which feels like the natural breast
  • It has an anti-colic valve which reduces the amount of air that gets into your baby’s tummy
  • It is easy to wash, and you can put it on the top rack of the dishwasher

 Cons

  •  Some parents complained that the nipples have a fast flow, despite being described as a slow flow
  •  It may take some time and effort to position the nipple on the bottle correctly

Who is Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottles for?

Closer to Nature bottles are great for newborns and breastfed babies. Since it feels almost like the skin, it will reduce nipple confusion.

It is also a great option for babies that find it difficult to latch onto bottles. The wide neck feels like the areola and allows babies to latch in a more natural way.

Tommee tippee bottles vs Philips Avent

Tommee Tippee and Philips Avent are two great brands of baby bottles. That is why it can be difficult to choose between them.

However, some striking differences still exist between these two bottles.

Tommee Tippee bottles and nipples have a slower flow rate to reduce colic, meanwhile event has a faster flow which could cause colic

In terms of price, Avent bottles are more expensive than Tommee Tippee.

It is even easier to clean Avent bottles than Tommee Tippee because Tommee Tippee, especially the anti-colic bottle, has more pieces.

The Tommee Tippee’s Closer To Nature bottle has great semblance to the skin. Philips Avent also has this feature, but Tommee Tippee is better.

Lola Akinbade appreciates Tommee Tippee

Lola is a wife and mom of 3, a 6-year-old and two-year-old twins. She is also the founder of Deyewa. She said:

“With my 6-year-old daughter, I used a variety of Tommee Tippee bottles. Our favorite overall was the Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottles. She was breastfed from day one up until she was about 6 months. A few times a week I had someone else feed her so I could rest or do other things.

It was therefore important to get bottles with nipples that felt like the skin and would encourage her to continue breastfeeding. The closer to nature bottles allowed her to take in the milk but not a ton of air which caused her to get gassy. The nipples are also designed to feel like the skin which made it perfect for us.”

Though Philip Avent bottles have a faster flow rate, they also have the same anti-colic features as Tommee Tippee. Hence, you can use Philip Avent bottles with your newborn slow-flow nipple to reduce colic. It’s even better because Philip Avent has lesser parts to clean compared to Tommee Tippee.

To further evaluate these two bottles, let’s consider the following:

Leaking

Tommee Tippee bottles tend to leak more than Philips Avent. Philip Avent has this minimal leakage advantage because it only needs a few parts to connect. However, you can still reduce the leaking from your Tommee Tippee bottles by assembling the bottle parts properly.

Size

Both Tommy tippee and Philip Avent bottles are small.

You can hold Tommy tippies bottles in one hand to feed your baby, while Philip Avent bottle has inverted sides that can allow the baby’s small hands to hold the bottle properly.

This means that Philips Avent bottles are easier to hold than Tommee Tippee.

Nipples

Tommee Tippee nipples are closely designed to mimic the natural breast, but Philips Avent nipples are good enough to prevent nipple confusion.

Again, Tommee Tippee has a slower rate compared to Avent nipples.

As much as Philip Avent’s nipples have a tendency of collapsing while you feed your baby, Tommee Tippee’s nipples collapse too much.

Cleaning

Philips Avent has lesser parts to clean compared to Tommee Tippee. However, it is still easy to clean the two bottles.

Both of them are dishwasher safe, as long as you put them on the top rack.

Price and availability

Tommee Tippee bottles and nipples are slightly less expensive compared to Philip Avent. However, Philip Avent has more advantages than Tommee Tippee bottles, so it is worth the price.

Tommee tippee advanced anti-colic vs Dr. Brown anti-colic bottle

There has always been great competition between Tommee Tippee’s advanced anti-colic system and Dr. Brown’s. But the thing is, Dr. Brown’s anti-colic system has been proven to work clinically.

When we looked through a review on Baby Center Community, we discovered that some moms had to replace their Dr. Brown’s anti-colic bottle with Tommy tippee, and vice versa.

However, the difference between these two brands is based on their features:

The anti-colic system

Dr. Brown’s anti-colic bottle calls its venting system green or blue. This anti-colic system is fully vented and does not allow air bubbles to form in the nipples, or get into the baby’s tummy.

Tommee Tippee on the other hand uses a venting wheel on the bottom of the bottle to draw air through the vents. This makes air pass through the milk downwards, thereby reducing the amount of air that gets into the baby’s stomach.

Nipples

Dr. Brown’s has a wide range of nipples that suit its anti-colic bottle. These nipples range from sizes for preemies and newborns, up to babies that are older than nine months. Of course, the flow rates for these nipples differ to suit the baby’s age.

These nipples also have breast shape which helps breastfeed babies to enjoy bottle feeding as well.

On the other hand, Tommee Tippee is more concerned about creating nipples that improve latching and imitate the natural breast. Though they have nipples of different flow rates, they mostly design slow-flow nipples.

In fact, this slow-flow feature of their nipples is one reason their bottles are ranking so high.

Leaking

Dr. Brown’s anti-colic bottles only leak when you do not properly assemble them, clean them, or insert the vent. But Tommy Tippee has more complaints about leaking. This could also be caused by using the wrong fluid temperature or not assembling it correctly.

Through it all, one thing that differentiates between these two brands is the rule that what works for one baby does not work for the other. See what some parents said:

Corritta prefers Tommee Tippee anti-colic bottles

Corritta from It’s a Family Thing said:

“I used the Tommee Tippee Anti-Colic Baby Bottles when our son was a baby.

Our little guy was gassy using Dr. Brown, so we switched to this brand. He liked the nipple better since it is shaped like a breast. Another thing we liked about this bottle is the increased capacity. Other bottles were 3 oz, and this one is more than 4 oz.

The thing we didn’t like about Tommee Tippee bottles was the size of the bottles. Many diaper bags have pockets for narrow bottles, so we had to store the bottle inside the diaper bag instead of in the insulated pockets.”

Tommee tippee offers an incredible bottle warmer that can warm your baby’s milk even when it was frozen. You will even know how much time it will take to warm the milk depending on the starting temperature.

This warmer is so gentle on the milk that it preserves the essential nutrients in the milk. You can even regulate the temperature to your pleasing, so you can be sure it is warming in the safest way.

Tommee tippee bottle has made the job easier for parents because you no longer have to think of how to wake up by 3 am to make your baby’s food. All you have to do is prepare the food, put it in the fridge, and warm it when it’s time to feed.

Moms love it because of its simple style and ease of use. It is easy to measure the amount of water to put in the reservoir. As long as there is enough water in there, it works just fine.

After heating, the warmer will beep to notify you that it is done. If you are not available to remove it, it switches to the keep warm mode until you pick it up. This makes it better than the old version which was once sold on the same Amazon page

This warmer is suitable for glass and plastic bottles, and milk bags. It is a better alternative to warming your baby food in a microwave which doesn’t even heat evenly.
