20+ Legitimate Work at Home Jobs for Moms

Here are the Best Verified Jobs for Moms in 2021

1. Blogging

Blogging is easily my favorite job to do from home.

The special thing about it is the potential for passive income.

Let me explain.

With blogging, you write posts and even though you don’t get paid a huge sum for them immediately, they help you create a snowball of income that scales every month.

You may not make any money in the first 6 months but eventually, you’ll start making thousands of dollars monthly and most of that income will be passive income at that point.

So if you are passionate about writing and you don’t want to be a freelance writer, blogging is the best thing for you.

Also, if you want to never have to hop on the phone for your job, become a blogger.

How much do bloggers make?

Serious bloggers start making between $1,000 to $20,000 per year in their very first year!

Check out this infographic I made for how long it takes to make money blogging using the different monetization models and this post about nine moms making money in different blogging niches. One makes up to $50,000 per month! Go figure!

How To Start A Blog And Make Money

Setting up a blog is pretty easy and making money from it, even though not as easy, is not rocket since too.

Here’s what you need to do:

I seriously recommend you read this post first and here’s my famous free blog plan if you need more help.

2. Write Online (Freelance Writing)

If you love writing you can thank the dotcom boom for this beginner-friendly work-from-home job opportunity. It doesn’t require phone calls, a degree, nor previous experience.

Seriously this is one of the best online jobs for stay at home moms!

Every serious business is going online and investing in content marketing (aka publishing blog posts) because it’s highly effective. But it’s not just blog posts. They pay people to write their emails, advertisement copy, and sales pages too.

What fuels this content marketing boom is mostly writers, of all experience levels.

How Much Do Online Writers Earn?

Writers earn from around $30 all the way up to $2,000 per post depending on a lot of factors.

I, for example, set my rate at $0.25 per words and earn around $250 for a post 1,000 words long. But I know writers who earn much more than that. My mentor Elise makes around $1,000 for a post around the same length and Holly Johnson told me in this interview that she earned $300,000 writing online this year. Check out that interview if you want to learn how to make money as a freelance writer.

How To Start Writing from Home

To start writing, you’ll need a computer, an internet connection, research, and some marketing skills.

The fastest way to level up your skills, of course, is to take a freelance writing course but in case you can’t afford to at the moment so you are looking for work from home jobs with no investment, Upwork is a good place to start, just don’t feel like you have to compete on price.

The key to making more money is to choose a profitable niche and target businesses rather than individuals or bloggers.

UPDATE: Holly I mentioned above created a FREE freelance writing course, you should check it out.

3. Pinterest Virtual Assistant

If you are looking for part-time jobs for stay at home moms, this is the one I recommend.

When my blog was just getting started I started offering Pinterest Management Services billing clients $250 a month for work that took around 8 hours tops (that’s below average rate) and I can tell you it’s pretty easy to sell Pinterest Services.

Your job is to create brand awareness and drive traffic for clients using Pinterest. Like a monthly package could include 10 new pins, scheduling 800 pins and joining 1 group board…

How much do Pinterest Managers and VAs make?

Around $50 per hour would be considered average.

How to get started

Build a portfolio, this is very important. Landing clients was easy for me because I could showcase the results I had gotten in the past.

Are you a CPA looking for work from home jobs for accountants? Or you just have a natural love for numbers, this one is for you.

After interviewing Ben, a former CPA and Bookkeeper who runs the site Learn to be a Bookkeeper, Bookkeeping has easily become one of my favorite work from home jobs for moms.

A lot of people confuse accounting which requires certification with bookkeeping which doesn’t but they are not the same.

Basically, a bookkeeper keeps track of the expenses and income of a small business or individuals.

Bookkeeping has been named as one of the most profitable online jobs by Entrepreneur, earning remote workers as much as $112,000 per year. Ben says the average per hour is $60!

To get started, I recommend taking his FREE Learn to Be a Bookkeeper Course. If you are worried about giving up your email address, then check out the interview where he talks about how to become a bookkeeper first.

5. Proofreading

What a proofreader does is carefully go through content with a fine-tooth comb fishing out spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.

If you found the error in that last sentence and shaked your head, or rolled your eyes, you have the potential to be a highly paid proofreader.

Editing and proofreading while sometimes interchanged are not the same thing at all. Proofreading is the final stage of writing that comes after editing.

This is one of the best side jobs for stay at home moms.

You can also work from home as an editor by the way.

According to Caitlin Pyle who is a self-made millionaire by the way, proofreaders get paid around $45 per hour. Check out the full interview where she spills all the beans on how to become a well-paid proofreader here and make sure to sign up for her FREE Online Workshop as well.

6. Transcribing

A transcriptionist takes recorded audio from meetings, interviews, or simple dictations and turns them into readable text.

If you are looking for typing jobs for stay at home moms, this job pays way better than typical data entry jobs.

Transcription companies like Transcribe me.com always have remote jobs for transcriptionists but this mom I interviewed told me that those companies don’t pay the best rates and they typically have low-quality jobs.

Janet who has been doing this for over a decade said that the best way to get started a transcriptionist is to get trained first. Thankfully she recorded a FREE training for you, you can assess it and the rest of the interview on how to be a transcriptionist here.

7. Consulting

When most people think of consulting, they think it’s something only incredibly successful business owners with MBAs do.

It’s not!

What Is Consulting?

Consultation means giving professional advice to an individual, business or organization in order for them to achieve a certain result.

From Business, Health, Social Media, Finance to Beauty and more, you can become a consultant in any area or niche right from your home! The woman in the image above, for example, is an interior decorations consultant.

How Much Can You Make From Consulting?

How much you make varies based on the niche you choose, the quality of the service you offer, the kind of clients you target, and how much experience you have.

To give you an idea, Consultants average around $76,000 per year. And it’s one of the most flexible jobs you can do from home that pay well. I know quite a few consulting moms myself, Natalie Bacon is one that easily comes to mind. And most of them say that this is one of the most fulfilling business ideas for women because you take someone through a much-needed transformation.

I should get her to spill the beans on how she got started soon but in the meantime, here’s a good article to help you get started.

8. Virtual Assistance

Virtual Assistance is another job you can do working from home that doesn’t cost money.

With the increase in entrepreneurship and small business ownership, more people are turning to remote workers to help with tasks they would love to outsource.

That’s where making money as a VA comes in.

Answering emails, helping with customer service, even social media. Your working hours can be flexible enough to allow you to focus on the things that are dear to you.

If you are looking for the best jobs for stay at home moms with no experience or jobs for stay at home moms with no degree, this is one entry-level mom job you’ll love.

This course should help you get started.
